Sea strands V60-style coffee cone, 2024

June 12, 2024

Rising sea levels / eroding beaches / between saltwater and the sea strands / melting ice caps
Reclaimed stoneware clays with black speckles and light grog, slab-built, glossy teal and white glazes

This ceramic v60 coffee cone has a glossy white top and bottom. Speckles show through the white glaze.

Between the top and the bottom are wavy layers of exposed raw medium brown speckled clay and drippy glaze that looks like seafoam on a beach.
The thick glazes around the middle consist of a white that breaks in an oil spot pattern over a light seafoam teal gloss.

On the body of the cone, the drippy oilspot glazes have streakier sections of seafoam green with streaks of white.

On the 5-petal daisy-shaped base of the cone, the white glaze forms small circles around the seafoam glossy clear.
The inside of the V60-style coffee cone is glazed in a glossy white and carved to ensure water flows properly through the coffee grinds while in use.
